Chance Hrycun, Teamsters Local 362
My name is Chance Hrycun and I am a member of General Teamsters Local 362. I was the Building Trades of Alberta Charitable Foundation Site Lead for the draw’s that were held at the NWR construction site near Redwater. As part of my duties I was responsible for finding volunteers to sell tickets, getting the tickets distributed to the sellers, selling tickets, making sure the tickets were handed in, and counting and balancing all of the money from the ticket sales. However the duty that I liked the most was when I got to inform the person who won the draw that they had indeed won the draw. Most of the draws were large enough that a person who bought a ticket could buy a new car if they won but on occasion we would do larger draws where the person who won could buy a house. The appreciation and look on the face of the winners was enough to make all of the other duties worth the effort. On occasion I was able to meet the charity leads form the charities that the Building Trades of Alberta Charitable Foundation were donating to. This was very gratifying as well to see how happy the charity leads were to receive the money and it could only make me think that the reaction of the people who would be accepting the help from the charities was likely even better than the reaction of the winners of the draws. This helped put things in perspective for me that this is much more than just a chance to win some money as the funds raised were literally going to help people live. I am very proud to have helped the Building Trades Charitable Foundation and I’m proud that they continue to help Albertan’s through the foundation to this day.
