Long before our Foundation was formalized in 2001 volunteers were raising money to support diabetes research right here in Edmonton. In the last 15 years we have raised over $2.6 million dollars for diabetes related causes.

We had the pleasure of meeting two youth ambassadors, of the over 300,000 Canadians living with Type 1 diabetes, from JDRF who live with diabetes every day. Cassandra is sixteen and her father is a member of the Electrical Workers Local 424 Union. Liam, two years old, was happy to play with the many JDRF “Fund a Cure” bears that we have received over the years. Each bear represents a donation we have made to JDRF. Liam’s father, Jeff, commented, “These donations mean so much to us as a family because they give us hope that one day Liam won’t have to count every carb he eats, prick his finger 5-10 times a day and wear an insulin pump and Dexcom every day just to stay alive and healthy.” Find more information about JDRF.
